FREE HOUSES IN ITALY IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SICILIAN MEDIEVAL VILLAGE

The Sicilian town of Cammarata, well known as “the town of 1,000 balconies to the East” offers houses for free with intent to boost the economic development and urban regeneration. Cammarata is only a few kilometers from Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples) one of the most important archeological sites and outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture.
The aim of this initiative is to lure new residents and to preserve its historic city centre.

Who can apply this project?

Foreigners and Italians, private or corporate in good standing with the current anti-Mafia legislation, with the regulation in force on welfare contributions and not subject to insolvency proceedings.

Obligations of the buyer

Buyers must commit to renovating their new house fully within three years, and must pay the town a deposit of €5,000 to secure the property that will be returned once the work is completed.

Moreover, buyers must also present a clear refurbishment proposal for the house in question.

In addition, the town will give precedence to young couples when selecting who gets the free homes, and that couples who move there and go on to have a baby even receive a €1,000 bonus.

Finally, new owners can transform the multi-story buildings into a private house, B&B, hotel, shops or even a restaurant.
